Ten Years of Growing Strong, Resilient Leaders through access to the Ocean and Surfing.

What’s new at CSP:

City Surf Project has received the 2025 Nonprofit of the Year Award!

Every year, California legislators honor nonprofits from their districts with the California Nonprofit of the Year Awards to recognize the incredible work done across the state.

This recognition is a testament to the impact of our work, and we were honored to travel to Sacramento to celebrate this achievement. We are especially grateful to Assemblymember Matt Haney for acknowledging the powerful influence City Surf Project has on Bay Area youth.

Since our inception, we have introduced over 3000 youth to surfing.

Surfing engages youth with the natural world, boosts self-confidence, and improves social and emotional learning skills, and builds community. We focus on youth who have not historically been represented in surf culture to work towards diversifying the line-up.

“Waiting for a wave and that sense of just waiting, you’re filled with so much calmness, you feel so relaxed. It’s like all your problems just drift away in the ocean…”
